Syros Expected Price: Will This SUV Lift Kia Sales?

Kia India sales went down in a big way in December as compared to the previous month with Seltos and Sonet sales falling behind rivals. Now, with increased competition, the carmaker is betting big on the Syros. The Syros is its new subcompact SUV and would be positioned above the Sonet and below the Seltos. The Syros is under 4m and unlike many sub 4m SUVs including the Sonet itself, the Syros will only have a turbo petrol. There is of course a diesel too which again not many SUVs in its class have since the trend is moving towards petrol for this segment of cars. The Syros then is an interesting product while a lot will depend on the price with the expected price of the Syros being just below Rs 10 lakh and slightly above the Sonet with the turbo petrol variant. Kia India's market share is less than Hyundai, Tata or Mahindra while it will look to expand its sub 4m offerings to increase that. Currently, there are many options below the Rs 15 lakh price bracket with this segment seeing a lot of traction. The Syros though looks quirky with its styling dividing opinion while the focus here is on the rear seat space. With the Syros Kia would be looking at increasing its volumes but competition is also high. That said, the Syros can also cannibalize sales of the Sonet and the Seltos as well. It remains to be seen how well the Syros is priced as that will decide its fate in the Indian market.  Also Read : Budget 2025 Expectations For Automobile Sector: Reduction In GST For Hybrids, Removing Domestic Production Bottlenecks, More
