Indian Peace Advocate Discusses Foreign Policy in India with US Diplomat

“I think it is safe to say we have entered an era of convergence in US-India ties, especially in the past three and a half years," Mr. Ahmed said

The second administration of President Donald Trump appears determined to restructure US ties with the other great powers. This presents India with new challenges in the implementation of its ‘multi-aligned’ foreign policy, which seeks to ensure the country maintains and continues to develop a diverse range of political and security partnerships short of a military alliance. However, a reset in great-power dynamics could also provide new opportunities for India’s diplomacy, namely in the form of strengthened defence and economic ties with the EU and within the Quad.

Dr Ahmed also discussed "global challenges, democracy, regional stability, and cooperation on humanitarian relief," have to engage with civil society organizations on freedom of expression and association, and inclusion of women and girls, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable groups, including marginalized religious and ethnic minorities, Dr Ahmed said.

We are deeply committed to promoting and protecting universal respect for the right to freedom of religion or belief of all around the world. We have engaged many countries including India on the importance of equal treatment for members of all religious communities," US Diplomat replied
